Whether it is the row over Vishwaroopam or the scheduled visit of Salman Rushdie to Kolkata, state governments in both Tamil Nadu and Bengal have finally surrendered to Muslim radicals hawkish enough to stop those no matter what. While the wrangle over the film continues leaving Kamal Hasan dejected and seemingly outdone, Rushdie’s visit has been annulled by the Bengal government following warnings from the local police and political establishment, frightened of an Islamic outcry that may run amok both in Kolkata and other parts of Bengal. The victory rests with the Muslim radicals and their henchmen emboldening adherents of Islamic extremism across the globe.

What makes both the governments surrender?  This is the primary and thought-provoking issue at the moment. While the majority of Hindus continue to chastise both for appeasing Muslim radicals in particular, it is also true that on both occasions the governments are helpless. Unless they fail to do the same, Islamists will stop casting votes in their favor while the ever-silent majority Hindus will not back the governments directly anyhow.

The Hindu majority population in India prefers to remain behind doors and detest coming out openly to hearten governments to carry out their constitutional duties. What else can happen then? Hindu Dharma – the religion of best warriors once – has turned into the greatest caricature due to absence of valor and disposition to direct confrontation within Hindus.

Had we, Hindus, on both (aforementioned) occasions pledged to support governments (from a Hindu mindset) wholeheartedly and stopped them from disowning constitutional responsibilities, the entire picture would have been different all in all. In its absence, the triumph is with Muslim radicals only.

What ails Hindus? We have forgotten the need to get innovative. In mediaeval Bengal Chaitanya Mahaprabhu saved Hindus, reeling then under a heinous, repressive and hence, insensate caste-based Hindu society, by making Dharma mass-based. The majority of Hindus were not allowed to enter temple premises; hence, God came to them through chanting of “Hari Bol.” The caste ridden Hindu society was thus crushed destructing the Islamic dream of converting Hindus to Islam en masse in Bengal also.

Such innovations are required now more than ever before; Hindus are on the verge of extinction and if Hindu pessimism continues, none can prevent them from going to oblivion soon.

Muslims in India – dejected, rudderless and also leaderless in the initial years following partition of India – have, exploiting fast changing situations best, not fortified themselves only but are in a more dominant position than pre-1947 period also. Muslim radicals are so powerful that they can dictate terms and make governments cede to the same. Their pragmatism along with using Golden Triangle and Golden Crescent brilliantly remains a lesson for others.

If Hindus fail to get pragmatic, they will have to go on reiterating empty words only. They will depend on constitutional powers for their own existence and posterity while the saga of betrayal by the same will never cease.

Hindu Youths burn Pakistani flag in Kakdwip on January 23

There is a limit to everything. While Pakistanis gloat to violate cease fire and murder brave Indian soldiers heinously (in a halal style) at every opportune moment, Government of India never forgets to exert its self-restraint and censure Pakistan diplomatically only at international levels. It never even think of confronting Pakistan militarily fearing to lose Islamic confidence in India.   

This is not possible for Hindus to withstand any longer.

Brave Hindu youths in Kakdwip, headquarter of Kadwip subdivision in District: 24 Paraganas (South), preferred to think and act differently on January 23, 2013. They were found to kick and burn Pakistani flag to vent their anger against rising Islamic barbarity, expressed by Pakistan, and also the inaction and pessimism of Indian government.

Assam Riots : Bengal’s Lesson

The recent riots in Assam are a warning bell for Hindus in West Bengal. The Hindus of Assam have been shaken up from slumber, but that cannot be said for their counterparts in Bengal. A large fraction of Hindus from rural Bengal and a small urban populace seem to have taken note. But the political parties have a lot to lose if the Hindus truly wake up. While the Trinamool Congress appears to have taken a lead, others are not lagging far behind. The Muslim leadership has been politically pragmatic, keeping their votes bankable. With a goal to secure minority votes, a slew of steps taken by the chief minister herself, seem to defy sanity.

 

Hindus of Assam have indeed woken up. But it may be too late to make a difference in many places including southern Assam and Barak valley. In Kokrajhar and Chirang districts, Muslims faced severe retaliation and was overwhelmed by Bodo tribals although non-Bodo Hindus remained muted spectators. Interestingly and quite uniquely, the state government lead by the chief minister Tarun Gogoi went against conventional wisdom of appeasing the Muslim vote-bank over the month long riot. On the contrary, in many cases he came out in support of the Bodo Hindus. Needless to say, as a shrewd politician, his actions are driven by political pragmatism rather than love for Hindus. A bit of introspection bring out the obvious. After being traditionally Congress supporters, the Muslims had recently flouted an Islamic political party (AIUDF) lead by Badruddin Ajmal, which secured 18 legislative assembly seats and became the second largest political entity. In effect, it decimated the Congress’ dependence of Muslim votes forcing a seasoned politician like Gogoi to target and secure the Hindu votes for political survival. As a result of consolidation of Hindu votes, Congress lead Gogoi secured 78 of 126 seats – a comfortable majority that also strengthened his position in Delhi in spite of losing minority votes.

 

In contrast, the chief minister of West Bengal has moved in the opposite direction of appeasement. She has already promised to rehabilitate the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants fleeing Assam. The rationale behind her actions seem to be to pay the highest possible price to secure the Muslim vote-bank, while the Hindu votes remain divided. Consequently, the condition of Hindus in 75 blocks spread across 10 districts became turned from bad to worse. Herein lies the lesson for Bengali Hindus. Assamese Hindus have shown enormous foresight in  hedging their future on Congress. Their calculations could very well have gone wrong. A divided Hindu vote, resulting in anything short of a clear majority would have forced Congress to seek a coalition government with the Islamist AIUDF, making them vulnerable to Ajmal’s demands. In the end, the Hindus in Assam have secured a tactical victory. The BJP on the other hand, had their seats reduced from 10 to 5 pursuing the mirage of minority votes. While not resorting to violence as in Assam, Hindus here must take cue from unfolding incidents in Assam to secure its future.

Democracy stands for Service not Speeches

Democracy in any nation doesn’t denote mere speeches or insensate services to indigenous people, especially people belonging to the lowest stratum of the society. Unless wretched people are bettered, there is no future. In contemporary India, dashing hopes of founding fathers of Constitution of India, this has been the trend; myriad instances are there to prove how political or social originations go on delivering mere speeches leaving commoners high and dry.  No differences are witnessed on national holidays even; leaders who grace the daises continue doing the same while hapless people look on them helplessly.

Hindu Samhati, ever since its commencement, has been against this pernicious mindset completely and the best instance of it remains distribution of garments, relief among poor Hindus whenever necessary. A perfect specimen of “Daridra Narayan Seva” as propounded by Swami Vivekananda a century ago.

With this end in view, on January 26, 2013, Hindu Samhati distributed blankets to poor Hindus inhabiting village: Sonadanga, close to Mayapur, District: Nadia.

Hindu Temple Robbed in Hasnabad

Thefts at Hindu temples are rampant throughout Bengal and with the indifference of police and administration, the number is rising overly. The grievous saga is not limited to any particular district but is extending far and wide.

While a series of burglaries rocked Malda a few days back, now it is the turn of a Hindu temple in Bishpur Majherpara, a village under jurisdiction of P.S. Hasnabad, District: 24 Paraganas (North).  

The village is known for the Kali temple of Manimohan Memorial Trustfar and near. And that temple was targeted on January 25, 2013 at dead night.

It has been learnt that valuables along with gold jewelries worth Rs. 1 lakh has been stolen.

An official complaint has been lodged by Manimohan Memorial Trust; police is yet to get the culprits.

Cow Smuggling ... it's How Bangladesh Gets its Beef

In Muslim majority Bangladeshbeef is in high demand.

More than 90 percent of the 160 million people who live there are Muslims and for them beef is a delicacy.

More than 2 million cows are smuggled from India to Bangladeshevery year and most of the illegal trade takes place through the Indian border state of West Bengal.

Bangladeshi slaughterhouses cannot source even 1 million cows from within the country. If Indian cows do not reach the Bangladeshi slaughterhouses, there will be a big crisis there.

Muslim ruffians overwhelmed, remain dejected  

Not even a day passes in the realm of Jibantala, District: 24 Paraganas (South), when Muslim ruffians miss a chance either to malign Hindus or injure them directly. Even after lots of pleas to the local police and administration, the situation remains same and how the same Muslim assailants roam freely with police personnel are perceived almost daily. Hindus, after being betrayed a lot, have decided not to give in and struggle till the last. Hindu Persecution in Bangladesh – a Common Business for All

Hindu persecution in Bangladesh remains unabated and apparently there is no reason to dream that this festival of the masses to persecute Hindus would end before long.

It has been going on through ages in every capacity leading to the desertion of Bangladesh by Bengali Hindus silently but steadily. From making 29% of the entire population in East Pakistan in 1948 Bengali Hindus have come down to mere 9% in modern-day Bangladesh and the same number is also on the wane.  

While on one hand Islamic state structure must be censured severely, Bengali Hindus can’t also evade their own responsibilities. Hardly Bengali Hindus during both Pakistan and Bangladesh periods have dealt with practical politics. Neither have they mulled over the need to fortify their own defenses nor have they supported humanitarian groups working in Bangladesh in throngs in broad daylight.

What Bengali Hindus in Bangladeshhave done, if a single word can be used, is sheer escapism. No escapist can live with dignity and vigor ever; Bengali Hindus are having the same fate at the moment in Bangladesh.

How long this will continue is hard to grasp at this moment.    

Perhaps with the absence of solid defence Bengali Hindus will become extinct in Bangladeshsoon.

Hindu temples in Malda, premier district in Bengal, have become latest target of burglars and with each day it passes, more and more temples are becoming victims to theft while the administration continues to witness the horrid episode helplessly. Only on the night of January 22, 2013, four temples became victims raising the number of thefts to 12 in the last 4 days.

Hindu Resolve Crushes Islamic Bids to Seize Hindu Temple in Basanti

When on earth Hindus remain united and fight with vigor, they have the taste of triumph; this has been the lesson of history and Hindus inhabiting the village of Gagramari, P.S. Basanti, District: 24 Paraganas (South) are having it at the moment.

The profound Impact that Aurobindo Ghosh had on Subhas Chandra Bose is reflected in his autobiography: “In my undergraduate days, Aurobindo Ghosh was easily the most popular leader in Bengal… a mixture of spirituality and politics had given him a halo of mysticism and made his personality more fascinating to those who were religiously inclined… We felt convinced that spiritual enlightenment was necessary for effective national service…”

It is, therefore, not surprising that he should have also been influenced by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s construction of nationalism. And like Aurobindo Ghosh, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the Indian nation for him extended beyond the geographical to the devotional plane. During his college days he discovered the wretchedness of not India but “impoverished Mother India.”

Struggle for Netaji – Now or Never

Mere celebrations, holding discourses or sharing opinions in Facebook or any other social networking websites in his praise are effete and are being considered as the last options of his impotent admirers around the globe.  For the last (almost) 65 years, each and every birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is being observed such and there has been no change ever.

We, on every year, take oath of serving the country, display strongest patriotism whenever necessary on this pious day of January 23 and forget all those lofty words and thoughts once the dais is left. Who has been benefited as a result? The unholy international and national nexus preferring to keep secrets regarding his disappearance after World War II, aftermath of the weird plane crash theory on August 19, 1945(perfect cock-and-bull story) and his life and struggles later on under a rugged mat has been the greatest beneficiary thus far.

And each and every foolish act of his admirers, certainly Hindus, if not more, is fortifying confidence of filthy conspirators against Netaji Subhas for ages.   

It’s the time for us to crush the power exerting all pressures to retain this GREATEST UNTRUTH of his death. Not an iota of specimen has been found yet proclaiming death of Netaji Subhas loudly. Neither the three commissions (appointed by Central Government of India) to investigate death mystery of Netaji Subhash have deduced anything solid nor we Indians have found any hope from  those. On the contrary, the government’s hesitations to deal with the reality and its overweening postures (at every time) have left all of us to smell a rat only.     

What is more, there is no end to hold over 1000 secret files about Netaji Subhas in an assortment of departments of Union Government of India. While the PMO (Prime Minister's Office) has 33 such files and 7 of those are labeled TOP SECRET. Ministry of Home Affairs holds 70,000 pages of secret information on Bose. The Ministry of External Affairs is holding at least 12 secret files. The Intelligence Bureau has 77 secret files. RA&W (Research and Analysis Wing) says it does not have any secret files about Bose but a sworn affidavit filed to one of the commissions reveals that it also possesses secret information.  And the list goes on.

When all these will come to the fore and TRUTH will be revealed remains unknown ………because struggle against demonism is not simple and there is a need of war altogether to have justice.

If we Hindus can do the same, it must be started immediately as legal battles against the diabolical government is falling through and buying time only. Or if we prefer to exhibit our genetic impotency by shying from this task, we should stop celebrating birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas.

We cowards are not fit to worship a Maha Kshatriya like him.  

It’s time to take the decision.

Hindu Samhati’s Meeting in Minakhan Earns Great Success

On January 13, 2013, Hindu Samhati organized a street corner meeting at village: Fulbari, P.S. Minakhan, Subdivision: Basirhat, District: 24 Paraganas (North). The meeting was presided by Rahul Bhuiyan, Debasish Chakraborty and Biplab; more than a hundred of Hindus joined the meeting.

While speaking on the meeting, Sri Brajen Ray, vice-president of Hindu Samhati, narrated how Muslims throughout Bengal are exerting pressures on the state government relentlessly to have their own demands.  Hindus, to end this burgeoning crisis, have got to rise up, be outspoken and come under a single fold despite differences, whether political or any other.

The Hindu gathering paid homage to Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh and Lance Naik Hemraj Singh, two valiant Indian soldiers murdered grievously during latest violation of ceasefire by Pakistanat LOC, as well. People, there, were found to state Government of India must let its army enter the Pakistani mainland before long and avenge such Islamic brutality going on for centuries.

Debasish Chakraborty, distinguished activist of Hindu Samhati in the locality, while speaking to the audience, said how Hindus are being persecuted regularly in different Hindu-dominated villages in area under P.S. Hindu Youths of Bagnan-Patinan Fight Back And Succeed Despite Heavy Odds !

The tension between the two villages under Bagnan Police Station of Howrah district, the Hindu majority Patinan and Muslim majority Khajurti, has a long history.

On 15th of January, 2013, a large number of Muslim villagers of "Khajurti" attacked Patinan and tried to occupy properties of Hindus, they tried to ransack Hindu residential areas, tried to forcibly capture the Hindu temple associated with Patinan Hindu Cremation ground. This kind of illegal activity and assault was hard to accept by the Hindu youths of Patinan village. They resisted the assault in huge numbers being united under the assistive guidance of Hindu Samhati youths of neighboring areas. The Hindus also tried to draw the attention of local administration and Bagnan Police. But police did not take concern; rather they advised the Hindus to accept the reality of current political and religious condition of West Bengal, i.e. to concede every Muslim demand, just or unjust, legal or illegal. Hence, the emboldened Muslims, in the darkness of night of the same day, armed with illegal firearms, forcibly made an illegal construction there, a concrete culvert to join the low land tunnel area connecting these two villages to get easy access to the Hindu cremation ground. They also tried to encroach upon the Hindu Cremation ground and cover the area with cemented boundaries.

Next day on 16th Jan 2013, police came and tried to manage the situation by forcing the Hindus to "adjust a little bit" to accept the incidents and not to react or interrupt by any means. Hindus got furious and strongly demanded administrative lawful action against the trespassers (violent Muslims) by police. Hence to calm the tense situation, Police arranged a peace meeting of both parties (Hindu and Muslim) to find a solution.

When the meeting was going on at another place with some representatives of both communities, all Hindus of Patinan village got together and broke down the illegal construction made by the Muslims in the darkness of last midnight. Villagers smashed and crushed down the illegally newly-made culvert, the symbol of atrocity and cruel aggression. In such ways, Hindus fought back with full courage and action against the mischievous design to encroach upon Hindu temple and community property. This is another success story against the odd of brazen Muslim appeasement of present day administration by the newly energized Hindus of Howrah rural areas.

Muslim Radicals Persecute Hindu Doctor in Rampurhat, Birbhum

Islamic fundamentalism had been proceeding stealthily at Rampurhat, District: Birbhum in Bengal and now it has become apparent with the savage assault on Dr. Achintya Kumar Chakraborty, aged, revered Hindu doctor in the neighborhood, by Muslim radicals.

It has come to knowledge, eve teasing of Hindu girls and women by Muslim youths (crossing all limits of decency) has become rampant in the area. A girl student of Class VIII in Rampurhat Railway Adarsha Vidyamandir was being teased for a few days at a stretch. On January 18, 2013, she was teased indecently once more by Imtiaz Sheikh and Babu Sheikh that made her inform her own relatives.

Without wasting a single moment, they came to the school and caught the two Muslim teasers red-handed.  Hindu women in the area thrashed the two Muslim teasers as well.

Dr. Achintya Kumar Chakraborty, who was returning from his chamber then, was informed of the grievous development and under his instructions both Muslim youths were kept in a room within a quarter of the railway colony. Police was informed as well.

But, before the arrival of police, Muslim accomplices of two Muslim eve-teasers reached the spot and started attacking Hindus there indiscriminately. No less than 35 Muslim hoodlums were in the gang that let loose the worst terror.

Dr. Achintya Kumar Chakraborty turned into the main target of Muslim radicals; a rope was fastened round his neck and he was thrashed mercilessly through all kinds of rustic weapons including iron rods, bottles and even cricket bats and hockey sticks.   Dr. Chakraborty has suffered a deep wound on his forehead, his right arm is broken. He, at present, is in Rampurhat Mahakuma Hospital and is in a critical condition. Railway was blockaded, as a protest to this incident, for hours but was withdrawn later owing to lathi charge of police.

Local people have named several Muslim accomplices in the gang – they include Murad Sheikh, Gobor Shiekh, Situ Sheikh, Tipu Sheikh along with Imtiaz Sheikh and Babu Sheikh.

Police has assured to arrest culprits before long but as per fresh reports that are coming in, there has not been a single arrest yet.   

Dr. Achintya Kumar Chakraborty has been pivotal in organizing Hindu defenses against rising Islamic atrocities in the area time and again. He was singled out and thrashed ruthlessly, therefore.

PS: Two years back Durga Puja immersion program in Rampurhat, to protest against maltreatment and also bids to molest Hindu women by Muslim youths midway, was boycotted.

The neighboring village of Bogtui, prior to the Durga Puja of 2012, remained witness to death of 18 Muslim radicals owing to a bomb explosion. While the mass grave is still found in the village, police and administration is yet to pursue the case efficiently.

January 18, 2013 – AnandaBazar Patrika – Birbhum edition – Page no. 11 states – in village: Bogtui, P.S. Rampurhat, 300 bombs were found on Wednesday – January 16, 2013 and police defused the bombs on the following day Thursday – January 17, 2013.  

Two Kali Temples Robbed in Hedia, Jibantala

Two startling thefts at two Kali temples in village: Hedia, P.S. Jibantala, District: 24 Paraganas (South) have rocked Hindus living there. The venerated temples, existing there for decades, are visited by Hindus regularly to perform Puja and are also regarded as stronghold of Hindus living in the village and its neighborhood. Along the lines of conventional Hindu beliefs, jewelries (of both gold and silver) are donated handsomely by Hindus; a fact known to all in the environs.

Nevertheless, Hindus (depending  on God’s grace much) didn’t feel it necessary to fortify the temple’s security and taking advantage of the same, the nefarious design to rob the temple and also to implement it perfectly took place on January 1, 2013 at 2 am.

It has come to knowledge, diadems of Goddesses worth 1.5 kg, jewelries (of both gold and silver) worth 30 gm., utensils made of brass and bell metal have been stolen.

Hindus in the village have lodged an official complaint to P.S. Jibantala. But police is yet to act.

As a result, Hindus smell a rat; the majority of them feel a clandestine liaison exist between police and thieves, nothing but Muslims. Hindus are simply hapless while the local administration continues to betray them in each and every manner.  

Hindu Samhati Honors Swami Vivekananda, Indian Soldier Martyrs Vigorously in Bagnan, Howrah

Hindu Samhati’s valorous commemoration of 150 th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda has stirred different parts of Bengal at the same instant and the prime of it became apparent in Bagnan, Howrah on January 12, 2013.

People in throngs were found both to appreciate the endeavor and paying floral tributes to pictures of Swami Vivekananda and Indian soldier martyrs.

Hindu Samhati Commemorates 150 th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in Joynagar

Hindu Samhati, to commemorate 150 th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, organized programs at different places across Bengal and Bele Durganagar High School field, P.S. Joynagar, District: 24 Paraganas (South) remained witness to one such.  

Hindus attended the program in throngs and the display of strength thus cautioned the local Muslim radicals along with administration highly. 

 

Every one of you will have to be a Govind Singh, if you want to do good to your country. You may see thousands of defects in your countrymen, but mark their Hindu blood. They are the first Gods you will have to worship even if they do everything to hurt you, even if everyone of them send out a curse to you, you send out to them words of love. If they drive you out, retire to die in silence like that mighty lion, Govind Singh. Such a man is worthy of the name of Hindu; such an ideal ought to be before us always. - Swami Vivekananda

Hindus in Pather Dabi, Hingalganj Refuse to Surrender to Muslim Radicals

Pather Dabi is a humble village in the realm of P.S. Hingalganj, Subdivision: Basirhat, District: 24 Paraganas (North) and remains Hindu-dominated up to now as well. But this reality has failed to prevent Muslim strong-armers even; 10-15 Muslim households living there coupled with their external supporters rule the roost at the moment.

The Hindu-majority village has witnessed cow slaughter for two successive years – 2011 and 2012. However, Hindus in the village built up a massive defence against cow slaughter during last Eid in 2012 and waged the combat against both Muslim malefactors and their administrative bosses for days. But Muslim culprits didn’t stay silent; scores of Hindu houses were destructed in reply while the administration preferred to retain a strange silence.

Pather Dabi is apprehensive of untoward developments in this year too; each and every struggle intensifies Hindu confidence. Hindus refuse to leave a single post in the ensuing struggles.     

Hindu Villagers Foil attack by Muslim Mob in Ramnagar

Village : Dakshin (South)  Ramnagar Puratan Hatkhola;  Police Station : Baruipur;  District : 24 Paraganas (South); West Bengal.

 

South 24 Parganas is all set to become a graveyard for local Hindus, thanks to indifferent attitude of the Administration against perpetrators inspired by Islamism. Every single day, more and more villages are becoming targets for anti-social activities in an organized manner. It is not surprising the most of these activities are directed against the Hindus.

 

On 13th January, 2013, a local club – Ramnagar Milan Sangha organized a musical event in the village of Dakshin Ramnagar Puratan Hatkhola, under Baruipur police station. It went well until some boys belonging to the Muslim community started indulging in indecent activities against local Hindu girls. It is reported that the boys teased the girls and also tried to molest them. The situation turned tense as Hindu boys protested. The Muslims attacked the Hindus and violence broke out. Ultimately, the Hindus beat back the attacking Muslims.

 

Later that night, a few thousand Muslim youth surrounded the village with the intention of revenge, but the alert Hindus responded immediately, and came out in thousands. Assessing the united power of the Hindus, the Muslims decided to retreat, threatening dire consequences for those who stood against them.

 

On 14th January, at around 6:30 PM, the same group again came to the village and attacked the Bibimata and Radha Govinda Temple (Hindu deities). One villager, Rabin Mandal, who rushed to prevent the attack, received severe injuries to his foot. Another lady got her hand fractured when she tried to stop the attackers from desecrating the temples.

 

Once the group was done with the destruction and Hindus were getting ready for retaliation, a large police contingent along with O.C. – Baruipur and SDPO, South 24 Parganas reached the place to defuse the tension. Local people have identified 3 persons, so far, who were engaged in destruction of the temples. They are Selim, Ekhtar and Mantu Sardar, son of Ati Sardar. It is reported that thousands of Muslims are waiting outside the village and they are ready to attack the Hindus at an appropriate time.

 

Hindu Samhati regularly monitors and reports violations against Hindus in West Bengal. We also work with both governmental and NGO agencies for proper education on protection and ensure remedies to the Hindu populace as per prevailing law of the land.

Become Real Hindu to Worship Swami Vivekananda

Then and then alone you are a Hindu when the very name sends through you a galvanic shock of strength.

Then and then alone you are a Hindu when everyman who bears the name, from any country, speaking our language or any other language, becomes at once the nearest and the dearest to you.

Then and then alone you are a Hindu when the distress of anyone bearing that name comes to your heart and makes you feel as if your own son were in distress.

Thus spoke a person whose appearance, presence and works not only galvanized Hindus but helped them to come out of a thousand-year old slumber under the sway of Islamic and British imperialisms – he is none other than Swami Vivekananda.

Swami Vivekananda, in brief, appeared at a time when Bengal Renaissance was in its full might, nurturing every young and subtle Hindu youth but definitely the consciousness or pride of being a Hindu happened to be the first and foremost casualty.

What would have been destiny of Swamiji then? Sri Narendranath Dutta (previous/Garhasthya name of Swamiji) perhaps would have ended his life as an undirected, radical and intelligent youth had the chance meeting between him and Sri Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa not taken place in November, 1881.

The meeting became both a turning point in his life and made him realize the millennium-old anguishes of Hindus that inspired him to search for new ways – ended with his gallant deeds to unfurl the flag of Hinduism for the eternity.

On the word of K M Pannikar, renowned historian and diplomat, “This new Shankaracharya may well be claimed to be a unifier of Hindu ideology.” 

And if one is asked to write something on Swami Vivekananda’s contributions to Hindus, words will fail to do the same. To begin with, Swamiji was wholly instrumental to render Hinduism a precise identity (for the first time in its history). Prior to his appearance, Hinduism was nothing except a slack confederation of an assortment of sects. He was the first religious leader to recount basics of Hinduism with common ground of all sects. As said by Sister Nivedita, “… it may be said that when he began to speak it was of ‘the religious ideas of the Hindus’, but when he ended, Hinduism had been created.” 

Swamiji also acted as the pioneer in defending Hinduism, to protest whenever Dharma was censured. He made Hindus realize the heinousness of Islamic vandalism and Christian Evangelism and how both had been sucking Hindus’ blood for centuries to make their dogmas triumphant. 

Last but not least, Swami Vivekananda was an ardent patriot to whom freedom of Hindus from shackles of British Imperialism happened to be the first step to reach the stage of ideal manhood or Hindu. It was he who stimulated Hindu youths to adopt the path of armed revolution.    

Where are Hindus in his 150 th anniversary then? Hindus are simply nowhere; Hindu identity is bankrupt and is used as a ploy to betray them only. Hindus have no nation across the globe; they can’t even bite when their Dharma is admonished, let alone avenging ongoing persecutions.   

We have to become real Hindus; it can be done only if we follow his ideals religiously along with the Vedic principle – Idam Shastram Idam Shaastram; Shapadapi Sharadapi (Power of Knowledge is equal to Knowledge of Power).
